Adoptions

COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION

Please fill out a digital adoption application and email it back to waywardwhiskers15601@gmail.com.  If you are unable to complete the application digitally, you may pick up an application at Cattfeinated Cat Cafe or at PetSmart in Greensburg.

Completing the adoption application will expedite the adoption process for you, even if you haven't decided on a cat yet. Once you have completed your adoption survey, a Wayward Whiskers volunteer will contact you via phone/email only if you are APPROVED or if there are any questions regarding your application. Please be patient and kind to our WW volunteer superheroes. They work really hard, and try their best, to respond to applications within 3-4 business days, but that is not always possible.

If you are specifically interested in one of our Cattfeinated Café cats, you must visit the café to meet the cat(s). WW will not approve the adoption of any café cat unless the adopter has met the cat in its home environment at the café. Adoptions always go to the “best fit home,” and not always the order submitted. WW has final determination on all adoption approvals, and if they feel the cat you would like is not the best fit, they will work to help you find the feline who best matches your needs. Wayward has over 120+ cats at any given time- so you will have a lot to choose from! Remember, it’s about helping connect people and cats – we want you to find a fantastic feline, and we want the cats to live long and happy lives, too.

Once your application is approved and you are matched with the best fit cat, WW will arrange your adoption either at Cattfeinated Cat Cafe or PetSmart in Greensburg. Times will be arranged between you and the WW volunteer. Our adoption donation fee is: Adults: $100/$160 for two and Kittens: $125/$200 for two.

What is the adoption process?

What has been provided for the cats?

All cats receive several medical services to prior to adoption, including the following:

  • All cats and kittens have been fostered for at least 3 weeks to allow ample observation time for illness, temperament and to socialize the cat.

  • Spayed/ Neutered

  • Current on age appropriate vaccinations- including feline distemper and rabies vaccines

  • Tested negative (unless otherwise noted) for FIV and feline leukemia.

  • Flea treated and wormed (and antibiotics if needed for illness).

  • Microchipped

What do I bring on the day of the adoption? What should I have prepared?

  • Most important is a cat carrier!   You may not leave the adoption site without one.

    • Cardboard carriers are not acceptable - the pose as an escape risk!

  • Bring cash, check, or a credit card to pay the adoption fee (see above).

    • *Please note there is a credit card processing fee if you choose to use a credit card*

  • Prepare your home for a cat by acquiring cat essentials: cat food, food/water dishes, litter box, litter, flea treatment, cat brush, nail trimmers, scratcher toys, etc.  Adopters often ask what food and litter we provide at the cafe so they can be consistent when the cat goes home.  Our cats are fed Rachel Ray Nutrish (Chicken and Brown Rice), and we use Dr. Elsey's or World's Best low dust scoopable cat litter.

  • Call a veterinarian to establish care for your cat. We recommend having the cat checked by a veterinarian within 7-14 days of adoption.
